Jewellery care

With a little care, your jewellery stays beautiful for a long time. Here are the most important tips – general and by material.

General for all jewellery

• Put jewellery on last and take it off first – after cream, perfume, make-up and hairspray.
• Remove it before sport, showering, swimming, sauna and housework. Avoid chlorinated and sea water as well as cleaning products.
• After wearing, wipe with a soft, dry cloth.
• Store dry and separately (pouch or box) so pieces don't scratch each other.

925 silver

• Silver can tarnish (darken) over time – this is normal and not a defect.
• Clean with a silver polishing cloth or a mild silver bath, then dry.
• Store airtight (zip bag), ideally with anti-tarnish strips. Wearing it regularly helps prevent tarnishing.

Gold-plated (gold-plated silver)

• The gold layer is thin – please handle it especially gently.
• Clean only with a soft, dry (at most slightly damp) cloth. Do not use silver cloths, ultrasonic cleaners or abrasives – they wear off the plating.
• Perfume, friction and sweat speed up wear; put it on last.

Gold (18k)

• Easy to care for: if needed, clean in lukewarm water with mild washing-up liquid and dry softly.
• Protect from chlorine (e.g. swimming pools).

Stainless steel

• Very durable and rust-free.
• Wipe with a damp cloth and dry; if needed, mild soapy water.

Stones & pearls

• Handle with care, no aggressive cleaners. Clean pearls only with a soft, slightly damp cloth and do not soak them.

These notes are general recommendations. On gold-plated pieces, natural wear of the gold layer over time is normal and does not constitute a defect.
